Tory’s Top 5 nostalgic places that have closed down on Long Island!

Arcade Game

It’s officially an end of an era…Party City has shut their doors for good. Let’s reminisce about the top 5 spots on Long Island that have closed that I really miss…

Sports Plus - Lake Grove

An indoor roller coaster, arcade, AND an ice skating rink?! This hot spot on Long Island was a staple for families. Sports Plus was open from 1996 to 2007. I remember playing laser tag, bowling, and being too scared to go inside the haunted house. There’s a page on Facebook that highlights the nostalgia.

Thankfully we can relive the fun through this video on YouTube of Sports Plus.

FunZone - Farmingdale

I remember going here as a kid and having an absolute BLAST! Bumper cars, laser tag, rides. This place was awesome. PLEASE tell me I’m not the only one who remembers seeing this commercial:

Country Fair Entertainment Park - Medford

Tell me you grew up on the East end…without telling me you grew up on the East end! Country Fair Entertainment Park in Medford was the place to be! They had go-karts, batting cages, and two mini-golf courses on site! Country Fair closed their doors in 2023.

Boomers! - Medford

Wow! Summer just flew on by! We want to wish our wonderful fans happy back to school week with $15.99 Champ Passes all day today! The park is open 11am-7pm today, bring some friends!

Posted by Boomers Long Island on Sunday, September 1, 2019

Originally named Bullwinkles, Boomers featured a rock climbing wall, go-karts, and animatronic characters. It was the OG cottage core place to be! The amusement park closed it’s doors September 29, 2019 for the season and did not reopen in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dairy Barn

Forgot to buy milk at the grocery store? Want a fun treat? Dairy Barn was truly the PLACE to go! Did you know this popular chain store originated on Long Island?! Their headquarters were in Elwood! Most stores have closed over the years, but some remain open as part of a Long Island staple!

Honorable mentions of places that have closed on Long Island over the years include: Laser Kingdom in Farmingdale and Coram, Fun 4 All in Port Jefferson Station, Nathan’s Fun House in Commack, Hot Skates in Lynbrook, Jillian’s in Farmingdale, Sunrise Mall in Massapequa, Good Steer in Lake Grove, and more!

Do you remember these places? What memories did you make in them? Share in the comments!
