Jelly Roll is doing really well in 2025. He announced the other day he’s lost over 120 pounds, and now he just got a big job promotion on “American Idol”.
Last season on “Idol”, Jelly served as a mentor on the show, but for the upcoming season they’ve expanded his role. Jelly will be the first “artist in residence” in “Idol” history.
Here’s how it’s going to work: Jelly will join the show during Hollywood Week, and ABC says that he’ll “work closely with the ‘Idol’ hopefuls, giving them firsthand advice on how to navigate the journey.”
That’s the second major change to the show for this season, after they brought in Carrie Underwood as a judge to replace Katy Perry.
So, does that mean “Idol” has officially gone country? Carrie Underwood . . . Jelly Roll . . . AND Luke Bryan . . .? And even Lionel Richie dabbled in country music at one time, too. This show knows what’s up.
There will be a 30-minute sneak preview of “American Idol” after the Oscars on March 2nd. And then the official 23rd season premiere will air on March 9th.
