Here’s what you need to know about getting a REAL ID in New York!

Looking to travel domestically in the coming months? Don’t forget to get your license updated with the REAL ID. Starting May 7th, New Yorkers will need to have the REAL ID or a passport with them in order to travel across the US.

Not sure what to do to get your ID updated? Here are some helpful tips:

1. Make an appointment!

If you’re a planner like I am, it’s best to make an appointment! It made getting the REAL ID process quicker!

2. Fill out the paperwork in advance!

If you don’t want to be at the DMV longer than you need to, it’s best to get the paperwork filled out before arriving to the DMV.

3. Don’t forget your credentials!

It’s easy to forget all the documents needed for the REAL ID. Here is a list of acceptable documents to bring with you the day of your appointment.
